- Acetate salt
- The form most peptides ship in — the peptide paired with acetate from purification. It counts toward vial mass, so net peptide is slightly less than gross.
- BAC water
- Bacteriostatic water — sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol that resists microbial growth. The standard diluent for reconstituting lyophilised peptides.
- Batch
- A single manufactured lot. Every TARA batch has its own record — origin, test results, release date — and a unique verification ID per vial.
- Certificate of Analysis (COA)
- The document listing a batch’s test results (identity, purity, impurity, endotoxin, water) against their specifications. The evidence behind a product.
- Concentration
- How much peptide is dissolved per unit volume after reconstitution, e.g. mcg/mL. Set by the peptide mass divided by the BAC water added.
- Endotoxin
- A marker of bacterial contamination, measured by the LAL assay in Endotoxin Units per mg. Lower is better; a batch must sit at or below its spec.
- GHRH
- Growth-hormone-releasing hormone — a class of compounds studied for their effect on the growth-hormone axis.
- HPLC
- High-Performance Liquid Chromatography — the analytical method that separates a sample into its components to measure purity. A purity figure only means something alongside its method.
- Identity
- Confirmation that a sample is the intended molecule, typically by matching its measured mass (mass spectrometry) to the theoretical mass.
- Karl Fischer (KF)
- A titration method that measures residual water in a lyophilised powder. Excess moisture accelerates degradation.
- Lyophilised
- Freeze-dried. Peptides are shipped as a stable lyophilised powder (a “cake”) and reconstituted with BAC water before use.
- Net peptide
- The actual mass of peptide in a vial after subtracting water and the acetate counter-ion — as opposed to the gross labelled mass.
- Peptide
- A short chain of amino acids. Research peptides are supplied strictly for laboratory research use only.
- Provenance
- The documented history of a batch, from supplier lot through testing and release — the chain of custody behind a vial.
- Purity
- The share of a sample that is the target compound, measured by HPLC. TARA releases batches at or above a stated minimum (e.g. ≥ 98%).
- Reconstitution
- Dissolving a lyophilised peptide in BAC water to make a solution. The reconstitution calculator works out concentration and draw.
- Research use only
- The classification for all materials here: for laboratory and in-vitro research use only, not for human or veterinary use.
- Secretagogue
- A compound studied for prompting the release of another substance — e.g. a growth-hormone secretagogue.
- Serialisation
- Assigning each vial a unique ID and QR code so it can be individually verified against its batch record.
- Single impurity
- The largest individual related-substance peak in a sample, capped by spec so no one impurity can hide behind a high overall purity.
- U-100 syringe
- An insulin syringe graduated so 100 units = 1 mL (1 unit = 0.01 mL). The calculator returns the draw in these units.
- Verification ID
- The code printed beside a vial’s QR (TV-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX). Enter it in Verify to pull up that batch’s COA — no login needed.
